Against Entropy

Chicago here we come.

A caution to this tale: As this is a memory about Mike, some actions by others may be falsely attributed to Mike. This is the nature of storytelling. If you are reading this and were there and you think something different—get over it, it’s my memory. This is the 1975-1976 school year. The place is Bloomington, IN.

The memorial service, reception, and wake for John M. Ford will all be held on Friday, October 27. All are welcome.

The service will begin at 2 pm. Four of Mike’s closest friends will deliver eulogies; in addition, some limited time will be available during the service for other people to share memories, or favorite short quotations from Mike’s writing.

The reception will be held from 4 to 5:30 pm in the social hall of the church, right below the sanctuary.

Please, no flowers.

In the evening (starting at 7 pm), you are invited to gather for a wake hosted by Patrick and Teresa Nielsen Hayden in suite 215 at the Sheraton Bloomington Hotel, Minneapolis South, which used to be the Radisson South.

The wake is a potluck event; please bring something to share (and label it with its ingredients). We will also accept contributions for drinks; any contributions which are not needed for drinks or hotel space will be passed along to the good causes below. (If you have questions about the potluck, please post them here for now. We hope to provide the name of a point person for these questions soon.)
